MS in Accounting — Taxation Concentration

Bentley discontinued its standalone MS in Taxation; as of January 2025, taxation is one of five concentrations inside the STEM-designated MS in Accounting. The program requires a minimum of 10 courses, holds separate AACSB accounting accreditation (the first program in Massachusetts to earn it), and prepares students for the CPA along with CIA, CMA, and CISA credentials. Full-time students can finish in 11 months; part-time students typically take 2 to 5 years.

Common Questions

MS in Accounting — Taxation Concentration FAQ

No. Bentley folded taxation into its MS in Accounting as a concentration, available starting January 2025. You earn the MSA degree with a defined tax focus rather than a separate MST credential. The change gives tax-focused students the same STEM designation and separate AACSB accounting accreditation the MSA carries.
Beyond business-school accreditation, Bentley earned AACSB's separate accountancy accreditation — the first program in Massachusetts to do so. Only a small share of business schools worldwide hold both, and it signals a dedicated quality review of the accounting curriculum itself.
Full-time students can complete the MS in Accounting in 11 months. Part-time students typically take 2 to 5 years, which is the common route for working professionals in the Boston tax market.
