Is Becker CPA Review Worth It in 2026?
Becker is the most recognized brand in CPA exam prep and the most expensive. Whether it is worth the premium depends on three specific things about you.

Becker is the most recognized brand in CPA exam prep. It is also the most expensive, with package prices that currently run from $2,499 for the Pro tier on Becker's August 2026 promotion up to $4,999 for the Concierge package. The question is not whether Becker is a good course. It is. The question is whether it is the right course for you at that price, because half of the candidates who buy Becker would pass with a $1,000 alternative and not know the difference.
I run Atlas CPA Index, which is a third-party comparison site. We are not a Becker reseller. That matters here because most of the "Is Becker worth it?" content on the internet is published by people who only sell Becker, or by people who sell its direct competitors. I am going to walk through the actual decision the same way I would for a friend.
What Becker actually costs in 2026
Becker has five packages. The current pricing, as of August 2026, is:
The Labor Day Sale discount on Pro, Pro+, and Concierge runs 8/18 through 9/8, with an extension scheduled through 9/14 (a mass promotion, no promo codes needed). Worth noting while the promotion is live: Pro at $2,499 costs exactly the same as Advantage at list price, and Pro adds the Pass Guarantee, LiveOnline classes, tutoring, and unlimited access. The case for paying the premium
Three things justify the Becker price tag for the candidates who fit them. Brand recognition is the first. Big 4 firms and most large public accounting firms run their staff through Becker as the default. If you are interviewing for those firms or already working at one, the recruiter or partner on the other side of the table has used Becker, and that creates a small but real signal. It is not a tiebreaker on its own, but it removes any question about whether your study material was adequate.
The second is live instruction at a daily cadence. Becker is the only major provider with daily LiveOnline classes included in the Pro tier and above. UWorld has video lectures but no live component. Surgent and Gleim have on-demand video without a fixed class schedule. NINJA includes live instruction at the $67 per month tier, though at a lighter cadence than Becker's daily LiveOnline schedule. If you know from past experience that you need someone walking you through material in real time every day, the Pro tier at $2,499 is competitive with what private tutors charge per hour for far fewer hours.
The third is the Pass Guarantee. Pro and Pro+ include a $1,000 refund if you do not pass after meeting the eligible-to-claim requirements. Concierge includes a full 100% refund. These guarantees are real and Becker does honor them, but they come with conditions, and you have to complete a specific percentage of the course and meet a Becker-defined "Exam Day Ready" threshold before you sit. For candidates who are genuinely worried about failing and want a financial backstop, the Concierge package functions as a partial insurance policy. For everyone else, the Pass Guarantee is a marketing line and the $1,000 difference between Premium and Pro is better thought of as buying the live classes and tutoring, not the guarantee.
Where Becker is probably not worth it for you
If your budget is under $2,000 and nobody else is paying for your course, Becker is probably not the right choice. NINJA at $67 per month and Surgent Essentials at $799 (or Premier Pass at $1,299) get candidates to the same pass result for a fraction of Becker's price. Gleim at $2,499 to $3,499 is also cheaper than Becker but lands above the strict budget tier. The candidates who insist Becker is "the only way to pass" are usually candidates whose employers paid for it. Self-pay candidates pass with the cheaper options every year in large numbers.
If you are a self-paced learner who hates lectures, you are paying for content you will not use. Becker is built around video lectures and a structured Study Planner. UWorld is a strong choice for candidates who learn from working problems and reading deeper answer explanations. Surgent's adaptive software is the better choice for candidates who want a software-driven study plan instead of a calendar. The Becker premium does not buy you something better in either of those cases, it just buys you features you will not open.
If you want the cheapest reliable path among established providers, NINJA at $87 per month for its full course does the job for many candidates ($67 per month buys the supplement tier: test bank, Notes, and audio). The three-question decision framework
When candidates ask whether Becker is worth it, I ask three questions back. The honest answer to all three is what determines whether the premium is justified for them specifically:
Answering "yes" to any one of those three is enough to justify Becker. Answering "no" to all three usually means a different course gets you the same result for less money.
- Is someone other than you paying for it? If yes, take Becker. The decision is over. Free Becker is better than paid anything else.
- Do you need daily live instruction to stay on a schedule? If yes, Becker Pro at $2,499 is competitive on a per-hour basis with anything else that includes live classes. If no, the price stops making sense.
- Are you targeting Big 4 or a major firm? If yes, the brand recognition is worth something at the margin, especially as a first-year associate. If you are going into industry or smaller firms, nobody on the hiring side will care which course you used.
What I would actually recommend
For most self-pay candidates who are not in the three "yes" buckets above, I would point you at one of three alternatives. If you want the closest experience to Becker at a lower price, UWorld Elite-Unlimited at $2,299 has detailed answer explanations and Roger Philipp's lecture style as its main features. If you want adaptive software that adjusts to your weak areas, Surgent's Ultimate Pass at $1,699 (or Premier Pass at $1,299) is the strongest pick. If you want the cheapest established option, NINJA at $87 per month for its full course is the next floor, with adaptive learning, live Sparring sessions, 7,000+ MCQs, 300+ simulations, video lectures, and a 7-day free trial included at the monthly price.
For candidates who are in one or more of the three "yes" buckets, Becker is worth the premium. The Pro tier at $2,499 on the August 2026 promotion is the best value in Becker's lineup right now because it adds the live classes and Pass Guarantee at a price within range of the mid-tier competitors. That sale runs through September 8, with an extension scheduled through September 14. Once promotional pricing lapses the same Pro tier returns to $3,845 MSRP unless Becker extends again. If Becker is the right course for you, the $1,346 gap between the promotional price and MSRP is worth timing around.
