PCAOB Opens Comment on Its 2026-2030 Strategic Plan, Deadline September 4
The PCAOB put a draft five-year strategic plan out for public comment in July 2026, the first under Chair Demetrios Logothetis. It sets three priorities and six goals, and comments close September 4, 2026.

What the PCAOB Put Out
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board released a draft of its 2026-2030 strategic plan for public comment in July 2026, the first five-year plan under Chair Demetrios Logothetis. Comments are due September 4, 2026. Logothetis said that "receiving stakeholder feedback at this stage will help ensure that our final 2026-2030 Strategic Plan is both ambitious and practical."
Three Priorities and Six Goals
The draft organizes around three priorities: advancing audit quality and investor protection, clarifying expectations and the basis for its decisions so that outcomes are easier to understand, and transforming the way oversight is delivered. Those break into six goals.
- Modernize standard setting and implementation
- Modernize the inspections and registration programs
- Sharpen enforcement focus on conduct harmful to investors
- Deepen stakeholder engagement and communication
- Modernize oversight through technology and data
- Strengthen organizational effectiveness and stewardship
How to Comment, and What It Does Not Change
Comments go to comments@pcaobus.org or by mail, and the window closes September 4, 2026. This is a planning document rather than a rule proposal, so it does not amend an auditing standard or an inspection requirement on its own. What it signals is where the board intends to spend the next five years, and the standard-setting and inspection goals shape the environment that anyone going into public company audit work will operate in.
